The harp is probably the oldest string- type musical instrument in existence. The skill of harp making is not known by many people. Our craftsman Merlin Maddock is well versed in the art of harp design and construction. After a sixty year relationship with wood, this could be your last chance to share with Merlin the knowledge and skills that he has accumulated during the last 50 years of instrument making before he meets The Great Carpenter of Nazareth. For thirty-eight of these years he specialized in the making and designing of Non Pedal, Celtic, student, electronically amplified, triple and wire strung harps. On many occasions he has had inquiries asking if he would be prepared to produce drawings and details of harp designs and to give courses on the appreciation of harp making. Unfortunately or fortunately, having been engaged in full employment, he has had little time to embark on the above project even though it has always been in the back of his mind.
